‘We Are the Change’ Rally Gives Hope to Social Service Agencies

Vermilion County Young Democrats hosted a rally on Sunday at Lincoln Park to focus on various social service agencies that are struggling because of the state’s budget problems. The event, titled ‘We Are the Change’, had several tables set up for local agencies to promote their businesses as well as receive donations from area residents.

Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer, along with State Senator Scott Bennett and U.S. Senate candidate and Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth spoke at the event.

“Danville has not only a tradition of hard work but representatives that will work very hard for them,” Senator Bennett said. “Your representatives will go to Washington D.C. to fight for you and to fight for the next generation.”

The event, along with the social service agencies such as NAACP, the Vermilion County Health Department, and CASA, included vendors and a bags tournament with the proceeds split between the top 3 teams and programs to support homeless Veterans in Vermilion County.
