Supplemental Outreach Initiatives
1. Job Fair – Danville Area Community College
Neuhoff Media Danville co-sponsored and promoted the Career Connections Job Fair 2017 on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Danville Area Community College Mary Miller Gymnasium.
The public was invited to meet area employers who were recruiting for part- time and full-time positions. More than 50 area employers participated in the 2017 Job Fair. Attendees learned about the local job market and the responsibilities and requirements needed in various positions. Neuhoff Media conducted on site interviews with potential applicants for future positions. These interviews were for positions in sales, operations and news. Candidates were presented with information about career opportunities in all facets of our company from sales, on-air, digital and engineering.
2. Vermilion County Youth Leadership Conference
Neuhoff Media Danville participated in the Vermilion County Youth Leadership Conference on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Danville Area Community College.
Over 80 High School Students from the Vermilion County Area attended the conference. Members of the Neuhoff Media staff participated in round table discussions covering the changes in media and the broadcasting industry along with future employment opportunities that exists in the industry in general and at Neuhoff Media Danville specifically. Students were referred to our internship opportunities for additional experience in media and broadcasting.
3. WDAN Summer Media Camp for Kids
This annual program featured 12 students attending camp the week of June 19th, 2017 at the Danville Area Community College. The program focuses on young people interested in careers in the sports media field in general, but with an emphasis on radio, television broadcasting and writing. Members of the Neuhoff Media Danville staff conduct hands on training in announcing, interviewing, reporting and public relations. In its 22nd year, the Summer Media Camp is responsible for a number of current or past staff members.
4. Career Fair – National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation
Neuhoff Media Danville participated in the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation and Broadcast Education Association Radio Career Fair on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the 2016 NAB Radio Show in Nashville. A member of our senior management team conducted a series of on-site interviews with candidates from throughout the country. Candidates were presented with information about career opportunities in all facets of our company from sales, on-air, digital and engineering.
5. Internship Program
Our internship program is available to high school or college students with a specific interest in broadcasting. The 2016-17 program featured 2 participants including students from the Danville Area Community College and Bismarck High School. The students are participating in on-air roles, active in promotional support and working directly with the website in video and audio production.
6. International Broadcasters SESAC Scholarship
Neuhoff Media Danville participated along with the International Broadcasters Idea Bank in soliciting applications for a $10,000 scholarship for students in the broadcasting field of study.
7. Career Fair – Illinois State University
Neuhoff Media Danville participated as a panelist and event recruiter for the Illinois State University’s Sales Scholar Program on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in Bloomington Illinois. A member of our senior management team conducted a series of on-site interviews with candidates. Candidates were presented with information about career opportunities in all facets of our company from sales, on-air, digital and engineering.

8. Listing of Upper-level Job Openings.
Neuhoff Media Danville lists each upper-level job opening in a job bank or newsletter of a media trade group with a broad-based membership, including participation of women and minorities. The only position filled during the reporting year was an upper-level opening and it was listed with the Illinois Broadcasters Association Job Bank.
