The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team was called upon Wednesday evening to rescue three people from floodwaters west of Danville. Sheriff’s deputies say 50-year-old Darin Cline of Wellington thought he would be able to drive through water to reach a cabin he owns in the Shangri La Road area.
Cline’s vehicle, however, was swept away in the floodwaters.
Sheriff’s reports say an 18-year-old female was in the vehicle with Cline at the time. The reports say a 19-year-old female arrived on the scene and swam out to help those in the vehicle. A neighbor also tried to help before the Sheriff’s Department and other emergency responders arrived.
Cline and both of the females ended up being rescued. Cline was transported to OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville to be checked following the incident.
