Vermilion County Coroner Jane McFadden has released the identity of the woman killed in a Monday morning shooting in Georgetown. McFadden says the victim is 31-year-old Kimberly M. George of Georgetown.
Georgetown Police say they found George’s body when they responded to a report of shots fired at the Terrace Acres Mobile Home Park along Mill Road around 6:20 a.m. Police also found a young man who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He is Eric Stark, according to relatives, who is reported to be in his early twenties. Georgetown Police Sergeant Ephriam Bolin said the man was undergoing surgery late Monday morning, and relatives told VermilionCountyFirst.com News that he was out of surgery and in stable condition Monday afternoon.
‘’We’re in the middle of it trying to figure out what happened,’’ added Bolin.
Georgetown Police also confirmed that there were some children at the residence at the time of the shootings. ‘’They are fine and with other family members now,’’ Sergeant Bolin told VermilionCountyFirst.com News on the scene. Reports to our News Department indicate the two shooting victims had been living together, but were not married. A relative told us they had two children, plus George had a third child from a previous relationship.
An Illinois State Police Crime Scene Officer was assisting Georgetown Police and the Vermilion County Coroner’s office in the investigation. Police spent the day Monday gathering evidence around not only the mobile home where the shooting occurred but at some other locations nearby. Police were asking that anyone who might have information that could help solve the case give Georgetown Police a call at (217) 662-2131. Or you can leave information anonymously – if you would like – by calling Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at (217) 446-TIPS. No information has been released on a possible motive.
