Members of an Illinois Senate Education committee have been told an Evidence-Based Funding Formula negatively impacts public schools in Danville. District 118 Superintendent Alicia Geddis outlines the message she delivered to the committee…..
Dr. Geddis says Danville District 118 schools have already been navigating a $14-million dollar loss in State Aid due to eight years of pro-rating payments. She says the district has also lost another $1.9 million dollars in local tax dollars because of changes in equalized assessed values of property. And the District lost another $3.2 million dollars due to pro-rated transportation payments. Dr. Geddis adds Governor Rauner’s proposed pension cost shift would make things worse.
And Superintendent Geddis adds finding new funding is not going to be easy….
Superintendent Geddis says as Danville schools face the funding challenge, the District is also faced with the need to fill 42 vacancies for the next school year.
