The Vermilion County Conservation District’s 35th Conservation Olympics gave sixth-graders a chance to show their knowledge Friday about the great outdoors. Students from six schools divided into teams at Forest Glen County Preserve where they competed in conservation-related games ranging from a scavenger course to an obstacle course.
Vermilion County Environmental Educator Lara Darling described one game where team members were given clues about items that were spread out on a table….
The students who completed in the event were from Judith Giacoma Elementary School in Westville, Mary Miller Jr. High in Georgetown, Salt Fork, Oakwood, Potomac and Schlarman Academy. ‘’They are Olympic-style games with a conservation twist,’’ added Darling.
