Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says he remains optimistic about the city’s chances for a casino even though the legislation has been bogged down in Springfield for years. The latest attempt to amend a gambling expansion bill fell one vote short in the Illinois House Executive Committee on Monday, but Mayor Eisenhauer says Representative Bob Rita, the bills sponsor, plans to try again.
Eisenhauer spoke before the committee and he explained on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program Tuesday morning why he so strongly supports efforts for a Danville casino…
Also on the program Mayor Eisenhauer noted that sales tax revenues have dropped dramatically because of people shopping online..
Mayor Eisenhauer says Danville lost $400,000 to $500,000 in sales tax revenues this past year. And he says those funds would normally go to support such general operation expenditures as police, fire, streets and other areas.
