Police in Champaign have arrested a Danville man in connection with a shooting that occurred last month. Champaign Police and the U.S. Marshal Service arrested 20-year-old Devon Cooper in Danville on Monday. Cooper is charged with shooting a 21-year-old Danville man inflicting life-threatening injuries.
Champaign Police say the victim was found on May 13th when officers responded to the area of South First Street and East Armory on a report of shots fired.
Police say their preliminary investigation revealed the victim had been at a party and was walking back to his vehicle with friends when the shooting occurred. Champaign Police add their preliminary investigation found that the victim was the intended target.
Although an arrest has been made, police continue to investigate this incident and encourage anyone who may have information regarding this case to call Champaign Police Investigators at 351-4545 or Champaign County Crime Stoppers at 373-8477.
