Illinois State Police have been called to investigate an incident in which a Danville man was shot and killed by police early today (Tuesday, June 12, 2018).
Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason (shown here) tells VermilionCountyFirst.com News that police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Sherman shortly before 2:00 a.m. ‘’It was reported to police that a male subject had been present at the home and threatened an individual with a firearm, but had left the residence,’’ said Thomason.
A description of the suspect and his vehicle was relayed to officers, and Thomason says the suspect was stopped nearby…
The suspect is a 34-year-old Danville man who was pronounced dead. His name has not been released yet by the Vermilion County Coroner.
Meanwhile, Thomason says the investigation into the incident is continuing…
Both of the officers involved in the shooting have been placed on a paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
