Motorists can expect to see a lot of road work going on in Vermilion County over the next five years. State Representative Chad Hays says the state’s new 5-year road program includes spending over $100-million dollars in his legislative district.
The list of major road improvement projects includes $80-million dollars worth of projects in Vermilion County.
Those projects include spending:
- $23-million dollars for the reconstruction of Interstate 74 from the Vermilion River bridge at Danville to U.S. route 150, west of Danville;
- $18.7-million dollars for engineering and bridge rehabilitation work on Interstate 74 at the Salt Fork River bridge;
- $9.6-million dollars for resurfacing, drains and ramp repair on Interstate 74 from the Vermilion River in Danville to the Indiana state line;
- $4.3 million dollars for the replacement of a bridge on Perrysville Road at Interstate 74;
- $5.3 million dollars for engineering and bridge replacement along Interstate 74 at Tilton Road;
- $6-million dollars for bridge replacement and bridge deck repairs on Interstate 74 at Griffin Street and Stony Creek in Danville;
- $1.6 million dollars for bridge deck overlay on Interstate 74 at the Lynch Road interchange;
- $9.3 million dollars for resurfacing, guardrail work and bridge deck and ramp repairs along Interstate 74 from 2 miles east of St. Joseph to Illinois route 49 in Vermilion County.
