Danville City Council members have approved three intergovernmental agreements with School District 118. One allows Danville Police and Firefighters to access District 118’s school security video feeds and radio frequencies in the event of an emergency.
The second intergovernmental agreement provides for reciprocal reporting of criminal offenses committed by students – on or off school grounds. The agreement includes information pertaining to activity or suspected activity which would jeopardize the safe, orderly and violence-free environment of a school, including any criminal or gang-related activity.
And the third agreement approved by the City Council extends an existing one to provide two police School Resource Officers at Danville High School, and third SRO at South View Upper Elementary and Northridge Middle Schools. The officer assigned to South View and Northridge may also be assigned to work at the elementary schools in the district. And the officers assigned to Danville High School may also be assigned at times to work at the Kenneth D. Bailey Academy.
District 118 agrees it will reimburse the City one-hundred percent of the cost on any day the SRO officers work at the schools.
