It has been nearly a month since two Danville Police officers shot and killed a man. Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says Illinois State Police continue their investigation of the incident….
Thomason adds the two officers who shot 34-year-old Danathe Gulliford remain on a paid administrative leave. Thomason said earlier the officers shot Gulliford after he pulled a gun shortly after ignoring repeated police requests to show his hands. The officers had stopped Gulliford on June 12th in connection with a domestic disturbance.
Director Thomason adds he is glad that State Police have not rushed to finish their investigation because that means they are doing a thorough job. And Danville’s Public Safety Director notes that in serious cases like this – it takes time to complete the investigation…
Danville Vice Mayor Brenda Brown and Aldermen Lloyd Randle and Rickey Williams Junior released a statement after the shooting saying it is crucial that the community allow the necessary due process to run its course.
