Some area fire departments will share in the statewide release of $2.2 million dollars in state grants funds for fire departments. State Representative Chad Hays says over $83-thousand dollars is coming to some fire protection districts in this area.
Those grants include:
- $24,600 to the Ridge Farm Fire Protection District for 12 sets of bunker gear (pants and coats);
- $24,600 to the Georgetown Fire Protection District for 24 hand-held radios;
- $21,000 to the Rantoul Fire Protection District for one gear washer and two gear dryers;
- $12,600 to the Gifford Fire Protection District for seven sets of turnout coats and pants.
‘’The money headed to the 104th District will certainly be put to good use as our firemen and women work to keep our communities safe,’’ said Hays. The grants are being distributed through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal.
‘’This program provides an innovative approach to a problem that has long caused difficulties for fire departments and ambulance service providers in our area,’’ said Hays. And Hays noted fire departments and not-for-profit ambulance services across Illinois often have difficulties generating funds to purchase small equipment.
