When Danville hosts Balloons Over Vermilion this weekend, some expert weather advice will be available to pilots. Balloonmeister Joe Vincent explains….
Vincent says one concern is the heat….
But Vincent tells VermilionCountyFirst.com the decision on whether balloons will fly is not made until minutes before they are scheduled to launch. So Vincent says it all depends on weather conditions at that time.
Some of the more than 30 hot air balloons are scheduled to participate in the Danville Boat Club’s Splash-n-Dash event Thursday evening (July 12, 2018). And Vincent says some of the pilots are also planning to participate in another ‘fun flight’ Friday morning before Balloons Over Vermilion officially begins when the gates open at 3:00 p.m. Friday. The free shuttle bus service begins at 2:30 Friday afternoon from the Lowe’s and Walmart parking lots. It is presented by Jocko’s and Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken.
Parking is also available at the airport for $5 per vehicle, or $25 for RV parking.
