The purpose of the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is to promote the routine consumption of fruits and vegetables as a part of the daily diet. Coupons for seniors are distributed at CRIS through the cooperation of the Illinois Department on Aging and the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging. These coupons can be redeemed for fresh fruits and vegetables at the local farmers’ markets.
To register for Farmers’ Market coupons at CRIS, you should bring a photo identification and proof of income. If a senior sends someone else to pick up coupons, that person needs to provide a proxy letter signed by the senior along with the senior’s photo I.D. and proof of income.
