The Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity’s Restore building in Danville says the loss is still being compiled from a Monday night burglary. Jonathan Gibson says it was mostly tools that were stolen from Habitat’s new building at 422 North Vermilion Street which is still expected to open late this fall.
Gibson says at least $4,200 worth of tools were taken by the intruder or intruders who apparently spent quite a bit of time inside the building.
Habitat had earlier started a Go-Fund-Me page to raise money for the renovation of the building…and more than $47-thousand dollars has been raised through that effort.
Although work on the outside of the new Restore building is nearly done, Gibson told VermilionCountyFirst.com News there is a lot remaining to be done inside. He says that includes new plumbing and a sprinkler system that must be installed before work begins on interior walls and ceilings.
Anyone who has information that might help solve Monday night’s Restore burglary is asked to call Danville Police, or call Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 446-TIPS. A reward is being offered for information that could help solve this crime.
