Republican members of the Vermilion County Board are meeting Monday evening (July 30th, 2018) to caucus and select a nominee to become the next County Board chairman. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Vermilion County Title building at 112 North Vermilion Street.
Current Board Chairman Mike Marron (shown in photo) will be stepping down, effective September 7th, when he is sworn in as the new State Representative for the 104th District. Marron will be filling the spot being vacated by State Representative Chad Hays. Hays announced earlier that he would be leaving the Illinois General Assembly early to become the new Executive Director of Crosspoint Human Services.
Marron faces Democrat Cynthia Cunningham of Saint Joseph in the November General Election. Democrats could also nominate someone to become the next chairman of the Vermilion County Board.
