Scaffolding started going up Thursday (August 9, 2018) outside the historic Fischer Theatre in Danville. It is being used for a tuck-pointing project that is scheduled to be completed later this fall.
Thom Pollock, treasurer of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation, said earlier that the tuck-pointing is just part of the work scheduled to be completed before winter arrives. He says the building will also be getting a new roof.
Offutt Development Corporation of Danville is doing the work.
Although the work will secure the outside of the building, Pollock notes there have been few improvements inside. He says the only major work that has been completed inside was what was necessary to get an occupancy permit from the City when the Rocky Horror shows were held there.
