The Village of Tilton is advising motorists that 16th Street at Illinois route one is now open for traffic. Starting today, though, the 14th Street ramps will be closed, so motorists should plan ahead. The 14th Street ramps are scheduled to be closed permanently as part of the road improvement projects now underway along route one in Tilton.
There is also a detour route for trucks from the Southgate area. It goes from Southgate to Hodge Street then to 14th Street.
Meanwhile, in Danville work will be starting next week – on Tuesday, August 28th – on some improvements to the Oregon Street overpass. Danville Community Development Director David Schnelle says traffic will be reduced to a single lane and will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. He says the project includes replacing the bridge expansion joints along with repairs to the pavement and sidewalk on the bridge. The work is scheduled to be completed in late November.
Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes during the work period according to Schnelle.
