The Danville City Council has approved the purchase of right-of-way and easements for the Denmark Road Improvement and Northwest Pump Station projects. Sixteen parcels and temporary easements are involved in the agreement approved last night totaling just over $134-thousand-300-dollars.
Funding is coming from Motor Fuel taxes and the city’s Sewer program. The City is planning sanitary sewer and roadway improvements along portions of Denmark Road, Old Ottawa Road, Logan Avenue and Winter Street.
Also during their meeting members of the city council approved amendments in Danville’s Zoning Ordinance and Map regarding rules for solar and wind energy systems. One Danville resident, Vince Koers, voiced concern about the changes. He claimed the changes were being railroaded through baron of protection for city residents. The changes allow the city to regulate solar and wind facilities in the community.
Alderman Steve Foster said he thinks the city is going in the right direction because it is something that does need to be regulated. But Coors said passing the ordinance ‘’with absolutely no sound control is asking for trouble.’’
The vote establishing rules for solar and wind energy systems passed 10 to 4 with city council members Dan Duncheon, Sharon McMahon, Rickey Williams Junior and Rick Strebing voting ‘no’.
