Police in Danville are investigating a fatal overnight shooting. Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says police and firefighters were called to the area of Fairchild at Fowler Streets at 9:20 p.m. on a report of a possible injury accident. When they arrived by found a vehicle in a ravine with the male driver slumped over the steering wheel.
‘’It was discovered that the victim had what appeared to be a gunshot wound,’’ Thomason told VermilionCountyFirst.com News. And he says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vermilion County Coroner.
Director Thomason added that based on information acquired by the police it is believed the victim was likely targeted. He says police do not believe that it was just a random shooting.
Danville Police are being assisted by Illinois State Police Crime Scene personnel as they investigate the case.
