Danville residents who are interested in running for mayor, city council seats or city treasurer can start circulating petitions on Tuesday (August 28th, 2018). Sandy Delhaye, Executive Director of the Danville Election Commission, says half of the fourteen city council seats will be up for grabs in next spring’s election. Voters will also elect a mayor and city treasurer, but it remains to be seen whether it will be a full or part-time mayor.
Voters in November will be deciding whether to switch Danville’s form of government to a City Manager/Alderman form. If the vote passes the city would have a part-time mayor after the spring election, and the city council would select the new city manager.
The period for filing candidacy petitions runs from November 19th through 26th at the Danville Board of Election Commission Office.
