Members of the Public Services Committee of the Danville City Council will be discussing salaries Tuesday evening (August 28, 2018) for Danville city leaders who will be elected next spring. The committee will have to discuss two salaries for the mayor’s position. One would be what the mayor will make if the city continues to have a full-time mayor. The other is how much the mayor will make if the mayor’s job becomes part-time. Other salaries to be considered are the pay for the city treasurer and aldermen.
Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says ‘’comparable cities’’ in Illinois pay an average of $87,024 for a full-time mayor and $19,743 for a part time mayor. The comparable cities pay an average of $155,151 for a city manager and $6,137 annually for city council members.
The ‘’comparable cities’’ are those which were identified in the latest collective bargaining arbitration case involving Danville Firefighters Local 429, according to Mayor Eisenhauer. He says those cities include:
- Champaign
- Urbana
- Normal
- Carbondale
- Freeport
- Belleville
- Alton
- Galesburg
- Granite City
- Quincy
- Rock Island
- Pekin
- Dekalb
The Public Services Committee of the Danville City Council meets at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building at 17 West Main Street.
