The new chairman of the Vermilion County Board, Larry Baughn of Hoopeston, says there is work to do. And that is the reason Baughn decided to skip having a swearing-in ceremony during Tuesday night’s meeting. He says it was not needed.
Baughn was nominated for the position when GOP members of the board caucused earlier. And he has been getting ready to replace former chairman Mike Marron….
One of the first issues facing the new chairman is finding some new board members. He says five of them have stepped down after moving out of their districts….
And the new County Board Chairman notes there are other issues needing attention….
Baughn’s appointment was confirmed unanimously as Democrats lined up behind Republicans to welcome the new chairman.
