It is National Farm Safety and Health Week as farmers hit the fields to begin fall harvesting activities. And as the harvest swings into high gear – Tom Fricke, Public Information Spokesman for the Vermilion County Farm Bureau, says motorists need to be careful….
Fricke also offered some advice for farmers….
Fricke says it appears there will be a fairly good corn yield this year, but adds it’s too early to predict the soybean yield.
And Fricke notes as farmers bring in the crop this fall they remain concerned about trade tariffs that were imposed earlier…

The CDC reports that farming is the 6th most dangerous occupation in America. And Fricke is reminding farmers to take rest breaks, get plenty of sleep, and make sure you don’t skip meals so your mind is working fully while you are working in the fields.
