Illinois State Police have announced results of a Nighttime Enforcement patrol conducted Friday night, October 12th, in Vermilion County. District 10 State Police Commander, Captain Louis Kink, says the patrols focus on impaired driving and occupant restraint violations.
There were no arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol in Vermilion County during Friday night’s enforcement period. And only one person was cited for other alcohol or drug offenses.
Four motorists were cited for registration offenses and four more for driver’s license offenses. Two were cited for insurance violations, and State Troopers were also involved in 8 other citations or arrests during the enforcement period. They also issued 41 written warnings.
Commander Kink says over half of all fatal crashes in Illinois occur at night. He says the NITE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous impaired drivers from the road, while also making sure everyone is buckled up.
