A 13-year-old Vermilion County boy is facing juvenile charges of falsely making a terrorism threat and disorderly conduct. Vermilion County Sheriff’s Captain Michael Hartshorn says deputies released the boy to the custody of a parent Wednesday (October 17, 2018), pending further action in juvenile court.
Hartshorn says the youth is charged with making a random threat via a text message against Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin High School. Captain Hartshorn added it was a ‘’very indirect threat’ and he does not believe that students at the school were ever in any danger. School officials, however, sent an alert to parents and also asked for and received an extra police presence at the school Wednesday before the boy was taken into custody.
Hartshorn added the boy is not a student at the school, but he previously attended school there. The youth will face further court action in the case later.
