A new trial date has been set for a couple accused of killing one person and wounding another in Georgetown in March. The trial of 22-year-old Laura Johnson and 26-year-old Michael Long is scheduled to begin on January 9th, 2019.
Each of the defendants has been charged with four counts of first degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm. The charges stem from the March shooting death of 31-year-old Kimberly George and critical wounding of 21-year-old Eric Stark. The victims were found when Georgetown Police responded to a report of shots fired at a mobile home park on that city’s east side.
Our News Department was told at the scene the day of the shootings that the victims had lived together for some time. They had three children who lived at the home with them, but Georgetown Police said none of the children were harmed.
