Christmas is less than two months away and the Danville Salvation Army is getting set to start its annual kettle program later this month. Lieutenant John Woodard, co-leader of the local Salvation Army, says a kick-off dinner Friday night at the Harrison Park Clubhouse will launch the annual fund-raising efforts. The bell-ringers, though, do not hit the street until November 17th.
Woodard notes some of the bell-ringers are hired….
Lt. Woodard notes the Salvation Army has been blessed each year with a lot of good people who help with the fund-raising efforts…
The money goes to support the local Salvation Army headquarters with general operations. Some of the money also allows the Salvation Army to pass out food baskets to those in need at Christmas time, and run some character building programs.
