Voters will also decide whether Republican Mike Marron will continue to serve as State Representative from Illinois’ 104th District. He is being challenged by Democrat Cynthia Cunningham. And Tuesday’s vote will also decide whether Cathy Jenkins, a Republican, will still be the Vermilion County Clerk. Jenkins is being challenged by Democrat Mary Catherine Roberson.
Most of the Vermilion County officials who are on the ballot Tuesday have no opposition. They include Treasurer Darren Duncan, Sheriff Pat Hartshorn and Supervisor of Assessments Mathew Long. All three are Republicans.
There is a contested race for Board of Review in District two where Democrat Dwight Lucas faces Republican Robert Huffman. There are also some contested races in some of the Vermilion County Board districts.
In District two, Clayton Woodard, a Democrat, is challenging Daniel Wright. In County Board District 4 Democrat Germaine Light is running against Republican Adam Hart. They are Democrats A.J. Wright and Terry Lake. The other two running are Republicans Craig Golden and Joe Leonard.
Of course, at the top of the ballot, in addition to the race for governor — Vermilion County voters will help select an Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Comptroller and State Treasurer.
Three Judges in the Fifth Judicial Circuit are also up for retention Tuesday. They are Circuit Judges Craig DeArmond, Nancy Fahey and Brien O’Brien.
In Carroll Township there is a question on the ballot asking voters whether Fire Trustees should be elected, rather than appointed.
And in Danville….the big question on the ballot reads: ‘’Shall the City of Danville, Illinois adopt the managerial form of municipal government and continue to elect aldermen from wards.’’
The polls open at 6:00 a.m. and remain open until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. And it is not too late for voters to vote early. The early voting is taking place at both the Danville Board of Election Commission and Vermilion County Clerk’s offices.
