Aqua Illinois Water Company is preparing to embark on a major project in Danville next year. Aqua Area Manager Bob Ervin says it will involve replacing all of the gates at the Lake Vermilion dam. He adds that the company hopes the project can be completed without causing any major impact on recreational activities at the lake….
Ervin adds replacing the gates at the dam is going to be expensive, but the company does not plan to seek another rate hike to cover the cost…
Ervin notes the current dam went online in 1925 during a time when Danville’s population was around 8,000 people. Now the company serves not only Danville but also some surrounding communities.
Ervin discussed the project at the company’s annual community dinner.
