Nearly fifty Danville children have new clothes and footwear heading into the winter months thanks to Danville Police. Off-duty officers took the kids shopping at Kohl’s Department Store on Saturday and purchased over $5,500 worth of items. They were participating in the annual ‘Clothes for Kids’ event sponsored by the Danville Police Association Charitable Association and PB & PA Unit 11.
Danville Police Officer Jason Dunavan says they will spend the ‘Kohl’s Cash’ they received for making their purchases there on other students in the near future. He says the ‘Kohl’s Cash’ will be used to purchase basic clothing items or backpacks which will be distributed by police School Resource Officers. Money to make the purchases come from a phone solicitation which is conducted each year.
