City Continues Railroad Quiet Zone Discussions

The City of Danville is continuing to review plans for possibly implementing quiet zones at some local railroad crossings.  Danville Community Development Director David Schnelle says representatives from the Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Transportation and CSX Railroad will be in Danville on Wednesday….

Schnelle says the crossings being considered for quiet zone improvements are located on Griffin Street, Voorhees (near the Public Works garage), Liberty Lane and West Newell.

Improvements at the Griffin Street crossing are scheduled to begin in March or early in the spring.  Efforts to make safety improvements there began over two years ago after a train-bicycle collision there claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy.
