A fifth candidate has filed paperwork announcing his intentions of running for Danville mayor. Sheldon McClain filed necessary paperwork Wednesday at the Danville Board of Election Commission Office to run as a write-in candidate.
McClain’s decision means there are now five candidates for mayor – which triggers the need for a February 26th Primary Election.
And more candidates could join the field before the December 20th deadline to file a ‘Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate.’
Others running for Danville mayor are Rickey Williams Jr., Donald Crews, James McMahon and Steve Nichols.
In 2015 McClain ran against Rick Strebing but lost in the race for Ward 2 Alderman.
