The Danville Board of Election Commissioners are expected to decide Tuesday whether a city council member should be removed from the February Primary ballot. Rick Strebing is an alderman in Ward 2 who is seeking re-election, but his petitions are being challenged.
Jerry Hawker, who is also running for alderman in Ward 2, claims Strebing’s petitions should be tossed out because they contain the date of the April 2nd General Election. Strebing says he was told to place that date on his petitions by the Election Commission Office. Strebing says after getting a candidate packet at that office he noted there was no date listed for the election. So, he says he called the office and asked what date he should put in the blank space and was told to put April 2nd there.
The Election Commission is expected to make a decision on Hawker’s objection on Tuesday.
