A new filing period for candidates is getting underway Monday (December 10th, 2018) for the April 2nd Consolidated Election. Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins is reminding candidates for all Vermilion County school district board members and those for Vermilion County Regional Board of School Trustees that they file petitions at the County Clerk’s Office. The filing period begins at 8:00 a.m. Monday and will end at 5:00 p.m. on December 17th.
Nomination petitions and other filing forms are available at the Vermilion County Clerk’s Office through December 17th. Petitions are currently being circulated.
All other offices including City or Village Mayor or President, Clerk, Commissioners, Trustees, Aldermen, Library District Trustees and others file with their local election official (Clerk or Secretary). Those others include Park District Commissioners or Trustees, Community College District Trustees, Fire Protection District Trustees, and Township Land Commissioners.
Any potential school board candidate should contact the County Clerk’s Office to ascertain which district format their district elects board members, and from which areas in the district candidates may be elected.
