The President of the Danville Branch of the NAACP says some sensitivity training is being proposed early next year for local citizens and Danville Police officers. Ed Butler says those completing the program would get decals for their vehicles and armbands….
Butler discussed the planned training after viewing the dash cam video from Danville Police squad cars of an incident last summer in which police fatally shot a man. Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason and Mayor Rickey Williams attended the viewing which was conducted for local clergy.

Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy released the State Police findings earlier this month regarding the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Danathe Gulliford this summer. Lacy found that the two Danville Police officers involved in the shooting were justified in using deadly force in the incident.
