Suspect Held in a Weekend Danville Shooting

Danville Police are holding a suspect in connection with a Saturday night (December 15, 2018) shooting which left a woman critically wounded.  Public Safety Director Larry Thomason says police received a call at 10:30 p.m. stating shots had been fired in the area of the 300 block of Washington Street.

As officers were en route, Thomason says a man flagged them down in the 400 block of Washington and told them he was the man they wanted.   A female who had been shot was found lying in the road.  Director Thomason says she was transported to a Champaign area hospital, and at last report, the 29-year-old woman was in critical condition.

The man in custody is 26.  Police say a weapon was recovered.  The names of the victim and suspect have not been released.
