Area Crashes Result in Injuries Over Christmas

Despite the good weather, several accidents occurred in our area over the Christmas holiday period.  And some of those accidents involved injuries.

Twenty-three year old John Shoaf of rural Alvin was hurt early Monday…Christmas Eve…when his auto left the road and hit a tree.  Danville Police reports say Shoaf was traveling northbound on Logan Avenue when his vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign at Logan and Swisher, then left the road and hit a tree head-on.  The crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. Monday.

Shoaf was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana for treatment.

Another crash on Christmas Eve in Danville sent two people to the hospital with injuries.  Danville Police say that crash occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. at Bowman and Fairchild Streets.

One of the drivers…59-year-old Rose Keys of the 300 block of Elmwood Avenue, Danville…and a passenger in her vehicle were both taken to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center with minor injuries.  The other driver….20-year-old Janice Smith of the 1200 block of Garden Drive, refused treatment according to police.

And another accident involving injuries occurred Saturday night in the 1000 block of East Fairchild Street in Danville.  Police reports say 38-year-old Everett Williams of the unit block of Lake Street in Danville, lost control of his vehicle and it hit a tree.  Williams was taken to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment after the crash.
