Trooper Involved in Fatal Western Indiana Shooting

Authorities in Montgomery County Indiana are probing a fatal shooting involving a state trooper Friday night.  The trooper was not injured but a male suspect shot by the trooper has died.  Indiana State Police Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded to the scene along U.S. 231 near County Road 550 North.

The victim died after being transported to Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville.  The names of the victim and trooper were not released, but are expected to be released later.

Indiana State Police say once their investigation is complete a full report will be provided to the Montgomery County Prosecutor.  The Prosecutor will decide whether any charges should be filed.

Assisting Indiana State Police and the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office with the investigation are the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Crawfordsville Police Department, Linden Town Marshal and Montgomery County EMS.
