Danville Police say a suspect is in custody after they received a 911 call saying a subject on foot was exchanging gunfire with someone in a vehicle. Police arrested 19-year-old Markus Brown of Danville in connection with the shooting in the area of the Oregon Street overpass shortly before 12:30 Monday afternoon (January 14, 2019).
Police say Brown matched the description provided by the 911 caller. Police discovered Brown was armed with a handgun and have charged him with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and having no valid Firearm Owners Identification Card. Police have since located a vehicle that was believed to have been involved, but it was unoccupied. No injuries were reported from the incident.
Danville Police also responded to a report of shots fired shortly before 11:30 last night (Monday, January 14th, 2019) in the area of the 100 block of Grove Street. Upon arrival witnesses told police they had seen two men shooting at each other….and a residence has also been struck by gunfire. The subjects involved fled before police arrived and there were no injuries reported in the incident.
Danville Police are continuing to investigate both of these shootings and say it is unknown whether they are related.
