Local residents who wanted to honor slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did not let some very cold weather stand in their way Monday. But the celebration was a little different from past years when many participants marched along the parade route. Sanda Finch, Danville’s Human Relations Administrator, says weather conditions cancelled the march and changed it to a motorcade….

The motorcade paused briefly at the MLK Monument at Williams and Jackson Streets….then traveled to St. James United Methodist Church where a special program was planned honoring Dr. King.
