Nominations Sought for AMBUCS 1st Citizen

The Danville AMBUCS chapter is seeking nominations for its 86th Annual First Citizen Award. The award is presented each year to a Danville area man or woman who has significantly contributed to the betterment of the community – through a single or multiple projects, personally or professionally.

AMBUCS is a national charitable club dedicated to inspiring opportunities for independence and mobility for people with disabilities.  Locally, AMBUCS projects have included the Playground for Everyone at Winter Park, AMBUCS Independence Playground in Lincoln Park, and the Spray Ground for Everyone at the Danville Municipal Pool at Garfield Park.

The Danville AMBUCS have also conducted summer camps, Christmas breakfasts, dances and led a baseball league for children and young adults with disabilities.

Some of the recent recipients have included Dick Shockey, Sue Richter, Lori Lyons, Fred Faulstich, and Mary Thompson.
