Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has released the name of a man who died after being shot in Danville on Saturday (February 16th, 2019). The Coroner says the victim is 33-year-old Jermario Webb who was pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital at 2:47 p.m. Saturday. Webb died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.
Danville Public Safety Director Larry Thomason told VermilionCountyFirst.com News that officers were called to the area of the 900 block of Hartshorn Street around 1:50 a.m. Saturday on reports of shots fired.
‘’Officers were told that an individual was lying in the grass after shots were heard,’’ said Thomason. He says officers found the victim who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Director Thomason added the victim’s last known address was in Chicago, but he was believed to have been living in Danville. And Thomason says police are still attempting to find people who may have information that could help in the investigation into the tragedy. Thomason says there was a large crowd in the area at the time of the shooting.
