Two people were killed and two others injured in a crash along Interstate 74 in Montgomery, County Indiana Monday (February 18, 2019). Indiana State Police say the crash occurred at about 12:50 p.m. when a westbound vehicle crossing the US 231 overpass went out of control for some unknown reason. The vehicle traveled through the median and slid sideways into the eastbound lanes where it was hit broadside by the second unit.
State Police say a backseat passenger in the vehicle that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the vehicle that went out of control later died at a Crawfordsville hospital. Two others involved in the crash were seriously hurt.
Indiana State Police say no names are being released yet, pending notification of family members.
The location where the crash occurred is about 35 miles east of the Illinois-Indiana state line.
