Some Aldermen Oppose Mayor’s Revenue Proposals

Some Danville City Council members are indicating they are not ready to support some of Mayor Rickey Williams ideas to raise new revenue.  Alderman Lloyd Randle said during last night’s (Tuesday’s) City Council meeting that he does not support a new $50 business fee or the proposal for a $100 fee on video poker machines.  And Alderman Jon Cooper said he ‘’probably’’ does not support the business fee and wants more discussion on the video poker machine fee.

Mayor Williams has also proposed a 2-percent increase in the hotel-motel tax in Danville.  He notes the funds are distributed in several areas…..

In addition to the fee increases Mayor Williams is proposing $300,000 in cuts.  He says he does not have a ‘Plan B’ if the city council refuses to go along with his proposal….

Members of the City Council are expected to vote on the new revenue proposals next month.
