Illinois school districts, including Danville District 118, are still struggling to find new teachers. And results of a new statewide study by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools shows the teacher shortage is getting worse.
Assistant Danville District 118 Superintendent, Dr. Elizabeth Yacobi, says the local district has taken steps to address the problem…
And Yacobi adds the problem is widespread across the state….
The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents survey found the problem is especially worsening in central and southern Illinois districts.
Eighty-five percent of the districts identified a major or minor problem with shortages in their schools, up from 78-percent in 2018. And only three-percent of the districts reported they are having no problem with finding substitute teachers.
