Schlarman Academy has announced it will have an eight-man football program next year. ‘’We are very excited about being able to bring back football and field a team for the fall of 2019,’’ said Schlarman Athletic Director Phil Sexton. ‘’We have a number of kids with a lot of talent, and it’s all about giving our kids as many opportunities as possible to grow,’’ he added.
Sexton said Eight-man Football will give Schlarman Academy students a chance to play in a competitive situation while affording an opportunity to develop younger players in a safe environment. ‘’It is a great move for other small schools that want to provide the great sport of football,’’ added Sexton. And he says Schlarman Academy kids are already showing a tremendous amount of enthusiasm about being able to experience Friday Night Lights, and Game Day Saturdays.
Schlarman has been involved in a co-op football agreement with Armstrong, Potomac and Hoopeston Area Schools.
