Danville Police say a man shot in the area of the 800 block of Sherman Street last night (Tuesday, April 23, 2019) has died.  Police Commander Joshua Webb told VermilionCountyFirst.com News that officers responded to a report of shots fired.  When they arrived, Webb says officers found a gunshot victim lying on the ground behind an apartment building. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office but his name is being withheld pending the notification of relatives.

Members of the Three Kings of Peace were on the scene.  They are a group which has been trying to prevent violence in Danville.  Pastor Frank McCullough – one of the Three Kings of Peace — told us he had talked to the victim earlier….

And Pastor McCullough explained how citizens can help in the effort to curb violence….

The location where the shooting occurred is about two blocks east of OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.
