The Danville Board of Election Commission found nothing today (Thursday) that would warrant a further check of ballots in the Ward 6 race for alderman. Jon Cooper had filed for a discovery re-count after losing in his bid for re-election by just seven votes.
Aaron Troglia was sworn-in Tuesday as the new Ward 6 alderman.
He and Cooper were both present for the discovery re-count which focused only on ballots in one of the precincts in that ward.
Sandy Delhaye, Director of the Danville Board of Election Commission, says as far as the Commission is concerned there was nothing found to warrant a further hearing on the matter. ‘’The counts were perfect – on spot,’’ said Delhaye as she noted the recount matched what was found on election night.
The votes that were reviewed and re-counted were from Precinct 1. Voters in that precinct cast their votes at American Legion Post 210.
